A complete, fully functional Linet network is available as an evaluation kit. With this kit, the user can set up and test all basic functions of the Linet network. The purpose of the kit is to demonstrate the easiness of mastering the Linet network and to provide a testing enviroment for system integrators.

The kit includes a Linet network controller, 10 hybrid nodes, application device cards illustrating the nodes' I/O-functions. A power supply and cables are also included. The kit simulates the basic functions of the Linet network - switch on / switch off function, linear power control function, analog input, and serial data transmission. The user can also connect his own field devices, like limit switches or programmable logic outputs, to the basic node cards.

A personal computer is everything that the user needs in addition to the kit. The controller is connected to the PC:s serial port and the network is configured using a terminal program. Run-time control instructions can also be sent from the terminal, or the user may write an application program to communicate with the network controller.
